The Zumbi dos Palmares International Airport, located in Maceió (State of Alagoas, Brazil), is experiencing remarkable growth in passenger traffic and is establishing itself as one of the main drivers of tourism in the Brazilian Northeast.

According to the latest data published by the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) and Aena Brasil, the terminal welcomed 1.45 million passengers in 2025, representing an increase of 10.3% compared to 2024. This historic figure marks the highest level of traffic ever recorded since the beginning of the statistical series in 2000.

In December 2025, the airport also broke its monthly record, with 158,017 passengers, an increase of 31.6% compared to the same month of the previous year.

A significant increase in international traffic

The international traffic is experiencing even more spectacular growth: the number of foreign travellers increased significantly in 2025, with over 61,000 international passengers recorded, representing an increase of nearly 180% compared to 2024.

Direct flights from Buenos Aires, Córdoba and Rosario (Argentina), as well as connections to Europe (such as operations from Lisbon and Porto), have contributed to expanding the international offer, strengthening Maceió's position as a strategic entry point for foreign tourists.

Early 2026: a trend that continues

The data from January 2026 confirms the continuation of this positive trend: Zumbi dos Palmares welcomed 342,429 travellers between departures and arrivals, representing an increase of 7.1% compared to January 2025. International traffic experienced an even more spectacular rise at the beginning of the year, with an increase of 113.4% compared to the previous period, setting a new monthly record for international flights.

A significant impact on tourism and the local economy

This attendance record directly reflects the rise of tourism in Maceió and Alagoas, which are now positioned among the most sought-after destinations in Brazil, both for domestic travellers and international tourists. The city benefits from a high hotel occupancy rate, new flight connections, and active promotion of tourism in key markets.

With these record figures, Zumbi dos Palmares Airport not only reflects a sustained post-pandemic recovery but also a genuine momentum for the tourist and economic growth of Brazil's Northeast.
