The tourism in Maceió and the state of Alagoas is experiencing a particularly dynamic start to 2026, driven by a significant increase in the number of foreign visitors.
According to official data from Embratur, the number of international tourists arriving in the state increased by more than 145% between January and February 2026 compared to the same period in 2025.
Specifically, 11,985 foreign visitors were recorded in the first two months of the year, compared to 4,889 a year earlier, which is more than double in just one year.
A growth driven by international air travel
This progression is largely explained by the increase in traffic at Zumbi dos Palmares International Airport, the main gateway to the region.
The month of February 2026 alone illustrates this trend, with a 125% increase in international arrivals, rising from 2,468 to 5,561 passengers in one year.
This dynamic is directly linked to the development of new international air connections, particularly from Argentina and Portugal, as well as the strengthening of domestic connections.
International markets in strong expansion
The main countries sending tourists to Alagoas are Argentina, Portugal, Italy, Germany, and France.
A trend confirmed by several players in the sector
This growth is not limited to official statistics. Other indicators confirm the trend:
