4 QUICK UPDATES FROM BRAZIL

#RareMinerals
Brazil and rare earth minerals
Brazil holds significant reserves of rare earths (minerals essential for batteries, electronics, and clean technologies) yet they remain largely underdeveloped. In 2026, advanced discussions with the United States aim to develop this sector and integrate Brazil into strategic value chains outside China’s dominant influence.
Why this matters to you: a stronger position in critical raw materials lowers perceived country risk, attracts long-term capital, and supports overall asset valuation, including real estate.

#Mercosur
EU–Mercosur trade agreement signed
The European Union and Mercosur (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay) have officially signed a historic trade agreement designed to reduce certain tariffs and create a more stable framework for trade and investment.
The agreement particularly facilitates exchanges in key sectors such as agricultural products (soybeans, sugar, meat), industrial and chemical goods, and selected automotive segments.
Why this is positive for you: greater regulatory stability and improved access to European markets enhance Brazil’s appeal for long-term investment.

#Visa
Brazil introduces an electronic visa
Brazil has confirmed the launch of an electronic visa starting January 1st, 2026, for several nationalities, including Canada, the United States, Argentina, and more than 20 other countries. The visa is applied for online, costs approximately USD 80.90, and allows multiple entries, with validity of up to 10 years.
This does not apply to European Union citizens, who remain visa-exempt for short stays in Brazil.

#Numbers
Foreign direct investment flows into Brazil
Between January and September 2025, Brazil received approximately USD 63.2 billion in foreign direct investment. Total FDI for 2025 is estimated at around USD 70 billion, with a growing diversification of investors, particularly from Europe.
This confirms that international investors continue to view Brazil as a credible and attractive market, despite a more uncertain global economic environment, a clear signal of confidence.
This trend goes beyond real estate and commodities. In the telecommunications sector, foreign investment increased by 12.1% in 2025, reaching over USD 6.2 billion, demonstrating that productive, structural sectors continue to attract long-term capital.
